Welcome Message

Dear esteemed colleagues in the renewable marine energy community, It is our great honor and privilege to welcome you to the 8th Asian Offshore Wind, Wave and Tidal Energy Conference (AWTEC 2026), to be held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, from September 6 to 10, 2026. This conference serves as a premier platform for engineers, researchers, and industry experts to stay at the forefront of innovations and state-of-the-art developments across the broad spectrum of ocean energy — including wave, tidal, ocean thermal, ocean current, and offshore wind energy.

AWTEC is the sister conference of the European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference (EWTEC), which has been held biennially in Asia. Since its inception in Jeju, Korea (2012), followed by successful gatherings in Tokyo (2014), Singapore (2016), Taipei (2018), and Busan (2024), the AWTEC series has grown into one of the most significant and influential events in ocean energy across Asia. Thanks to the dedication of delegates, organizing committees, and previous hosts, AWTEC has become a cornerstone for scientific advancement, technological progress, knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary collaboration in this vital field.

AWTEC 2026 continues this proud tradition by providing a vibrant forum where scientists, engineers, and professionals can share their latest research findings, present industrial applications, and engage in meaningful dialogue with peers from around the world. Beyond the technical sessions, participants are warmly invited to experience the dynamic spirit of Kaohsiung — a city that beautifully blends maritime heritage, modern innovation, and tropical charm.

Nestled between the mountains and the sea, Kaohsiung offers a unique mix of natural beauty and cultural richness. From the scenic Cijin Coastline and tranquil Sizihwan Bay to the lively Pier-2 Art Center and Love River, the city embodies the essence of Taiwan’s maritime soul. Visitors may also take a short journey to explore the Southern Coast National Scenic Area, where pristine waters, golden beaches, and vibrant marine ecosystems reveal the ocean's beauty and promise.

We are confident that AWTEC 2026 will be an inspiring and enriching gathering — a catalyst for collaboration, a source of innovation, and a reaffirmation of our collective commitment to advancing sustainable ocean energy.

We warmly invite you to Kaohsiung and look forward to sharing this remarkable experience with you in the splendid season of 2026.
